Today was a special day for many of the residents at Grand Oaks of Palm City, Grand Oaks of Jensen Beach and Discovery Village at Stuart.
Twenty volunteer Members of PCFTA with 16 of their best horses (and ponies) visited 3 senior living facilities today to celebrate The Kentucky Derby Race. The residents were able to meet up close with these beautiful animals, pet them, feed them treats and hear their stories (from the owner of course). Many of the residents wore their traditional Kentucky Derby hats to celebrate the occasion. This will be our 5th year doing this event, the residents are already looking forward to next year. Thank you to all of the volunteers, led by Sibyl Dance, April Milner of Tailwind Trails, and Keely Wilson who gave their time, equipment and horses to make this day such a success.
Trick or treating on Horseback, bike or on foot was today’s theme as residents of Palm City Farms traveled the Canopy Creek Equestrian Trail in search of sweet treats. It was a very successful ride/hike and they all had bags of sweets to prove it. Thanks to all the volunteers from PCFTA for coming out to help set up, run and tear down this fun event. We are sure some horses snagged a few treats today too.
Today’s obstacle challenge and neighborhood ride was a fun and challenging time. Riders from Palm City Farms showed up with their horses to ride a 3-5 mile challenge course with several obstacle stations maned by PCFTA volunteers. We had some hikers and several bikers participate which added to the challenge for horses. The obstacles were very inventive and some where representative of items that riders may encounter on a typical trail ride. They all did so well, and everyone enjoyed the day. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped make this such a success.
